      <image:title>Fine Art page 1 - Open Road</image:title>
<image:caption>Open Road is Chris’s first sculpture in bronze and has been produced by the craftsmen and craftswomen at Talos Fine Art Foundry in the UK, just over the road from the Thruxton race circuit, in rural Hampshire. It is a limited run of 12 pieces. Produced at an accurate 1/4 scale, it depicts a certain point in the history of motorcycling, at around the end of the 1920s, and celebrates something all motorcyclists have experienced from that day to this; the time when motorcycling is still new to them and every journey is an adventure. The story it tells is universal to motorcyclists of the last 120 years, from the turn of the 20th Century to the present day… and so on into the future. The new-found freedom of the open road, with all the time in the world stretching out in front and places to see and people to meet…</image:caption>

      <image:title>Motor Cycling in the 1920s</image:title>
<image:caption>OK so it’s pretty unlikely that anyone has had their clutch plate nabbed by a dog while they were re-corking it at the side of the road but then, none of us are old enough to have been there... so who’s to say? I’m more wondering whether she’s going to give it back to him or ride off with it...</image:caption>

      <image:title>Motor Cycling in the 1920s</image:title>
<image:caption>The spirit of motorcycling in the 1920s... Trying to get home before dark with no lights, as you do… Not so different to today in many ways, but that right-hand clutch lever’s a bit of a challenge with a left-hand brake! (Which is why I’ve swapped mine back around… didn’t even attempt to try it on the road!) (The 350 big port had become the young hooligan’s bike of choice by the late ‘20s - the 350LC of it’s time… couldn’t resist the reference on the tank and the light nod to the Yamaha speed blocks of the gloriously yobbish aircooled RD250s and 400s from around the time that I first started riding, albeit in a ‘20s take.)</image:caption>

      <image:title>The Pilgrim Precision - 1926 G6 Bigport</image:title>
<image:caption>Stripped down and ready to go… the promise of 1920s motorcycling in its purest form…. Great up to around 45mph… and still good for another 30mph or so above that. But… (there’s a but…)</image:caption>

      <image:title>The Pilgrim Precision</image:title>
<image:caption>It’s a rare and lovely thing and great fun but… inevitably… (lamentably even)… outclassed by everything else it’s likely to meet on the road once it gets slightly above town speeds. A 500 OHC from the late 20s would be far better and I’ve seen some stunningly and gloriously memorable rapid (and loud) flat tankers on the road from time to time but in reality, at the time, I decided it would never solve the basic problem… And so… THE PILGRIM PRECISION was born… !</image:caption>
